Opal inspired at home marriage proposal

When you walk into your new empty home to a big surprise

When Eric was ready to pop the question to his best friend Rachel, he gave us a call with a really big idea. They had just closed on their new home in Vancouver, Washington and were about to embark on the big move from Southern California. What better way to start your new life with a new ring on your finger too?

While open to design, he knew he wanted the look to be inspired by the ring itself, a large oval cut opal surrounded by sparkly diamonds.

We coordinated the exacting timing of the big surprise. Making sure that we arrived to the home long before they did to set up, and we stayed in close contact with Eric as they made their way up the coast. Dozens of crystals were hung in the west facing window and the proposal was scheduled to happen just as they would cast prisms all around the room. In order to fully celebrate their new home and property, all of the flowers were foraged directly from their property.

The room was filled with tiny details inspired by inside jokes between the couple. To be a part of the moment, their friends sent a framed photo of their parents and made a collage of moments of their romance.

And of course, everyone is hungry after hours on the road, so a buffet was set up with Rachel's favorite snacks.

The time had finally come as Eric and Rachel pulled into their new driveway for the very first time. Sean was there to capture the moment, as I hid in the back of the house until it was time to pop the rose. He got down on one knee and ....

She said yes!

Congratulations Rachel & Eric, and welcome to your new home in the Pacific Northwest!
